Don’t Plead Guilty

No one knows more about the costs of a New Mexico traffic ticket than a commercial driver. A speeding ticket in New Mexico for a CDL holder can be devastating. All traffic violations are costly for commercial drivers, even non-moving violations, but moving violations on a Class A license are serious and carry serious penalties.

We Fight Tickets

For commercial drivers the most common traffic violations in New Mexico are speeding tickets, no seat belt tickets or failure to stop at the POE, which all may be considered moving violations. The most common non-moving violations for CDL drivers in New Mexico are log book violations, oversize tickets, expired or no medical card citations and permit and marking violations. We have consistently handled these types of New Mexico tickets for CDL drivers for years

We Fight Serious Traffic Violations

More serious New Mexico citations, such as Reckless Driving, Careless Driving or New Mexico traffic violations involving accidents between Commercial Motor Vehicles and non commercial vehicles are especially dangerous to CDL drivers. Any accident involving a commercial motor vehicle is serious, even accidents resulting in property damage can result in the loss of your Class A license. If you are a commercial driver and you have been charged with reckless driving, careless driving or any other serious New Mexico traffic offense, call Glenn Smith Valdez immediately at 505.877.8787.

Protect Your CDL

As a Commercial Driver, you know that your CDL is always at risk, from points, to insurance to company policies, a New Mexico traffic ticket can have a huge impact on you, your license and your livelihood. The deck is stacked against Commercial Drivers, with both federal and New Mexico law keeping you from getting a deferred sentence or attending driving school or driver improvement school to keep points off your license or to keep your CDL clear. While deferred sentences and diversion programs that result in dismissals are common for non CDL drivers, for Commercial Drivers facing citations in New Mexico, this is considered “Masking” and is illegal. Even if your New Mexico traffic ticket was in your personal vehicle and not a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) you are subject to federal laws that prohibit masking. Aggressive representation is often the only option.

For Commercial Drivers, it is a Fight

Many commercial drivers ticketed in New Mexico want to have their citations changed to non-moving violations. Like deferred sentences, this is common for non CDL drivers. Class A license holders are treated differently. New Mexico and federal prohibit officers and traffic court judges from changing moving violations to non-moving violations for commercial drivers; this too is considered “Masking”. Again, hiring an aggressive and experienced attorney, expert in New Mexico Traffic Ticket representation is the best choice.

Special thanks to Shaniah for making the process stress-free for my wife and self." Stephen Whitfield

"OUTSTANDING !…..With a challenging case, and out of state distances to consider, hiring a New Mexico attorney was a "no brainer". In addition to that, I found out that dealing with the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) was near impossible when just trying to contact them, to say nothing of getting them to remove the out of state hold off my license. Attorney Valdez and his team worked tirelessly to straighten out a real mess for me and I couldn't be more pleased (and actually surprised) with the resulting positive outcome. Thank you Ashlea, Melissa, Shaniah and Glenn for everything!" Wes Walter
